Is this stuff really free?
YES! 100% free.
Having established that, let me add the following.
As gamers we like to spend our dough on stuff that helps us unwind and have a good time. Nothing wrong with that! But how about this. What if we took a portion of our hard-earned cash and gave it to someone who is going without? I think that would be pretty cool, don't you? We are NOT going to force anyone to donate to charity before they can download our games. We believe in the honour system.
A Note from the Captain:
A relief organization that serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. Fabulous record.
(A bunch of us from TPC worked the phones for these guys for a telethon a while back. Great folks, great sandwiches)
To help you guys find a place to invest your charitable dollars, we have put together a bunch of links of proven places you can trust will use your money right. But don't take our word for it. Look'em up! Or, find a charity of you own liking and dig deep. These are hard times and they aren't getting any easier at the moment. Think about it.
Over the years of doing this we've received a lot of email from folks telling us they don't have a lot of spare cash to give away, so they donated their time! What a great idea! There are tons of organizations in your area where they'll take whatever time you offer. You can drop right in to an existing program. Do it and God bless you.
International Red Cross/Red Crescent
"We strive, through voluntary action, for a world of empowered communities, better able to address human suffering and crises with hope, respect for dignity and a concern for equity." Right On!
Certainly one of the best oganizations on the planet
"The Leprosy Mission Canada provides the cure, as well as after-cure care to people affected by leprosy. Our staff provide rehabilitative surgery and therapy, plus vocational training and advocacy skills, to individuals in many countries around the world."
(Warning- if you read this website, you WILL end up donating)
What don't these guys do? They certainly don't need me to introduce them. There's probably a Sally Ann building right around the corner from where you live!
(A friend of mine, an electrical engineer, donates his time fixing radios in one of their thrift shops. Whatta guy.)
